The Galway Simon shops have been operating for over 20 years and are run by a Manager and a team of Volunteers, Community Employment and Job Initiative workers who ensure that the shop is well organised and stocked.

The first shop opened in 1987 and sells bric a brac, unwanted gifts, small items of furniture and electrical items but the mainstay is good quality clothes, shoes and accessories. We have also recently re-located the Galway Simon Furniture Shop to Unit 65 Briar Hill Business Park, )near Tubs & Tiles, DID Electrical and Curleys Furniture), We sell quality furniture including beds, living room suites, dining room tables, wardrobes etc.

All income from the shop is used to support Galway Simon Community's work with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.

Donations of Goods

The Galway Simon shop converts your kindness and generosity into funding our work which provides services for people experiencing homelessness. By spending a few extra minutes sorting your unwanted items before you bring them in, you help us to ensure the best value for everyone!

We only sell clean, good quality items. If you give us something that is broken, or incomplete, we can't sell it, we have to throw it away. Last year this cost us €2,244, money that we'd much rather spend on our services for people who are homeless.

We can take saleable items such as clothing, accessories, books, CDs, records, tapes, videos, ornaments, pictures, crockery, linens and toys. We also welcome donations of small items furniture and electrical items if they are of good quality and in good condition.

The best way to donate is to take your goods to either of our shops, however, we also have a van that can collect the donated items from you. Please call 091 584962 to arrange a date and time that suits you.

Volunteers

Volunteers to work in the shop are always welcome and training will be provided. If interested, please contact Michelle Powell on 091 38 18 37.

Collections/Deliveries

The Galway Simon Shop provides a collection service mainly for small items of furniture. We also offer a delivery service which is charged at €5 minimum which is to cover our petrol costs.
