How to get Involved

There are many ways your school, college or youth group can get involved with Galway Simon Community. From fundraising to volunteering, you can help us end homelessness for good.

Schedule a talk in your School

Every year we provide over 20 talks to schools, colleges and youth groups across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. The programme enables young people understand the causes and solutions to homelessness, helps build social awareness and encourages students to get involved and become a part of the solution.

Our talks are delivered free of charge by Galway Simon staff members but participation in fundraising events to support the organisation is encouraged.

Youth Photography Competition

capture-create-contributeIn 2016, we partnered with Yann Photography Studios to launch “Capture-Create-Contribute”. The programme introduced over 400 TY students across Galway to the reality of homelessness and social justice while developing student creativity.

Following a series of educational talks provided by Galway Simon and photography workshops delivered by Yann Studios, teams of students were encouraged to enter the competition by taking a photograph that depicts homelessness for them. Following a public Facebook voting challenge and a further round of voting, 12 pictures taken by the students were chosen for the 2017 calendar.

If you’d like to purchase a calendar (€5), drop into our office on the Tuam Road or call us on 091 381828.
